The following history was authored by
Bellbrook member H. Max Davis.
Methodists were among the first
settlers arriving in the Sugar Creek Township area in 1798. In 1812
Methodists, on land given by Thomas White, erected a log house of worship
and located a cemetery along side at White’s Corner (now the northeast
corner of SR 725 and Wilmington Pike.) Both have long since vanished.
Bellbrook was founded in 1816 near the center of the township. Methodists
moved their church to a log hewn building that faced east located on lot
20 at 25 West Franklin Street about 1819.
