The following history was supplied by Evangelical Members Sherry Newcomer and Ruth Anderson.

The founder of the United Brethren in Christ Church, Phillip William Otterbein, was born in Germany on June 3, 1726. He came to America in 1752. In 1767, during a great revival he experienced a deep religious experience which brought about the founding of the United Brethren In Christ Church. In 1946 The United Brethren In Christ Church merged with The Evangelical Church to become The Evangelical United Brethren Church. On April 23, 1968, The Evangelical United Brethren Church merged with the Methodist Church to form the United Methodist Church.
