History of Richland-Crumley UMC (Submitted By Joan Baxter)

The records of Union Circuit show that the people of the Richland community were members of Union Church up to a few years before Richland Church was built.

Quarterly Conference Minutes of August 25-27, 1860, three men were appointed to estimate the cost of constructing a building for the contemplated church at Richland.  The last day of the meeting a motion was approved that the classes of J.B.M. Right, W. M. Scarff and Thomas Anderson be recognized as a separate society to be known as the Richland Society, provided they succeed in building a new house at that place.
