Methodism in Greene County can be traced
back as far as 1803, when Fredrick Bonner Sr. purchased land in the
Norwest Territory and moved his family to a newly built log cabin in the
woods of Glady Run. The Bonner family is acknowledged as establishing
its first congregation at Union, and later numbered among the early
congregants of First Methodist Episcopal Church in Xenia.
